Started with one truck and a ladder rack.

Rathbone Web Co. Roofing started in Canton in 1999 — one truck, a ladder rack, and a promise to do tear-offs the honest way. Two generations later, most of our work still comes the way it did then: a neighbor telling a neighbor.

We live under the weather we build for. Wind that peels ridges in Cruso, ice that grinds the valleys in February, hail rolling up the Pigeon River — every roof gets specced for the worst week of the year, not the brochure photo.

FAQ

Straight answers, before you call.

The six we hear on every driveway. Anything else — insurance claims, steep access, HOA paperwork — gets answered by a roofer, not a script: (828) 555-5555.

How much does a new roof cost up here?

+

Most full asphalt replacements in Haywood and Buncombe run $9,000–$18,000; standing-seam metal typically $18,000–$35,000. Pitch, access, and decking move the number — which is why we quote from your roof, not a satellite photo. The written estimate is the bill.

Is the inspection really free?

+

Yes — roof, flashing, attic ventilation, and gutters, with photos of everything we find. You get the report either way, and no one follows you around your kitchen table afterward.

Repair or replace — how do you decide?

+

If a $400 repair buys you five more years, we’ll tell you — in writing. Replacement gets recommended when the decking, fasteners, or shingle mat are done, not when the truck payment is due. About a third of our inspection visits end in a repair, not a sale.

How long does a replacement take?

+

Most homes: torn off, dried-in, and shingled in one day, with cleanup and magnet-sweep the next morning. Steep pitches, multiple layers, or standing seam can run two to three days. You’ll know the schedule before we order material.

A storm just hit — what do I do first?

+

Stay off the roof and call the storm line — we run same-day tarping across Haywood County. Take photos of any inside damage, and don’t sign anything a door-knocker puts in front of you. Out-of-state storm chasers leave when the season does; we’re 20 minutes away year-round.

What warranties come with the roof?

+

Two layers: the manufacturer system warranty (up to 50 years on GAF and Owens Corning systems, because we’re certified installers) and our own workmanship warranty covering the installation itself. Both in writing, both transferable if you sell.

Financing available — fixed monthly payments and 12-month same-as-cash on full replacements.
